Each person crochets with a different tension, some crochet loosely and some tightly. If you are crocheting tightly it's likely that you will end up with a smaller item and use less yarn. Not to worry though, we have some free patterns on our blog and we will be adding more, so you can use up your extra yarn. If you crochet very loosely you might end up with a bigger size item and run out of yarn, therefore you might want to consider adding to the cart an extra ball of each colour just in case (especially if you are from outside the UK).

Babies love a blanket. It quickly becomes a treasured possession, preferred by many babies over any other toys they receive from friends and family. That’s why Cuddle and Play Elephant Crochet Baby Blanket is so special – because it provides the baby with a blanket AND a toy all in one!

This combination crochet blanket and toy provides everything a new born needs to feel warm, secure and comfy, with sensory stimulation built-in. Crocheted using soft yarn, your baby is kept nice and cosy while wrapped in the blanket or given a comfortable floor covering for when it’s time to play. The crochet elephant’s features – its long trunk, floppy ears, and tail – give baby plenty of opportunities to learn through touch and feel.

Your digital download includes fifteen pages of clearly written instructions, together with photos and links to video tutorials to assist your learning and see you complete your crochet elephant blanket and toy with success. You’ll also receive an instruction sheet with details on how to fold the crochet blanket effectively, leaving the toy exposed and ready to hang over a cot rail.

WHY WE DON’T SHIP TO THE EU

We’re currently unable to ship to Ireland or any EU country due to the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), effective December 2024.

These rules require small businesses to complete extra paperwork and appoint an EU representative with ongoing costs. As a tiny company, we’re not ready for this step yet—but we hope to offer EU shipping in the future.

We’re sorry for the disappointment and truly appreciate your support and understanding. 

USA SHIPPING UPDATE

We’re excited to resume shipping to the USA! 🇺🇸

Here’s what US customers should know about possible charges:

• Yarn duties: up to 7.5%

• Reciprocal tariff: yarn made in Turkey, potentially adds 15%

• Handling fees: DHL charges £17 for Express, so we removed Express shipping. We now offer Standard Shipping (7–30 days) via Royal Mail, with only a £0.50 clearance fee.

Maximum possible charges:

• 15% of order value + £0.50, or

• 22.5% (7.5% + 15%) of order value + £0.50

This is much lower than expected and similar to what Canadian customers have paid, keeping our yarn affordable.

Interesting fact: We recently sent a small US order after the new fees took effect. No duty invoice was issued, and the parcel was delivered immediately, suggesting small orders may sometimes be waived.

We haven’t implemented upfront duty charges on our site yet—it’s costly for a small family business. For now, we’ll email each US customer about potential duties before shipping to avoid surprises.

COLOURS DISCLAIMER: Please note actual colours may look different on a real product than what you see on your computer monitor. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours and that everyone sees these colours differently.
