Free Bunny Mobile Phone Stand Crochet Pattern.
Looking for a quick gift that will be a hit with anyone starting from a toddler to an adult? This crochet mobile phone stand can be made in just 2 hours! The bonus is, it only used 1 ball of yarn as well.
Thanks to this holder you can rest your phone on the perfect angle to watch YouTube, Netflix or whatever else you wish. It also has two bars to position your phone on two different angles.
This pattern was designed by Aneta Wawro from Crochet Arcade and there is a full video tutorial for it as well. The video is more of a tutorial teaching how to read written crochet patterns so it’s a bit lengthy but you can still use it as reference if you get stuck. Aneta plans to record shorter version of the tutorial soon but for now you can find the old tutorial here: https://youtu.be/EOqgLmXdIHM

CROCHETING DIRECTION:
Mobile phone stand body is crocheted in a spiral round. Part of the phone holder – the flat bit where the phone sits is crocheted in rows.
Ears are crocheted back and forth around the foundation chain.
Note: When you crochet in a Spiral Round, attach a stitch marker on the last stitch at the end of each round and move it up on the last stitch of each round as you make them. Alternatively, always mark the first st with the stitch marker instead of the last st. At the end of each round, do NOT join to the first st of the round and do NOT make a starting chain before starting a new round. Work first st of the new round directly on top of the first st from the previous round.
BUNNY MOBILE PHONE STAND CROCHET PATTERN:
EARS (Make 2):
Using 6 mm hook and single strand of main colour make 7 chains
1) Dc in next 5 chains, 4 dc in last chain, work following stitches on the other side of the chain in bottom loops: dc in next 5 loops, 1 turning ch, turn. (14 sts)
2) Dc in next 6 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 6 sts. (16 sts)
3) Dc in next 7 sts, <dc, htr, tr> all in one stitch, picot, <tr, htr, dc> all in one stitch, dc in next 7 sts. (20 sts)
Finishing: Fasten off leaving longer end for sewing the ears to the head. Weave in the starting tail through the holes in the foundation chain closing them at the same time.
MOBILE PHONE STAND BODY CROCHET PATTERN:
Pattern notes:
- Body is worked as one piece from the bottom up in a round.
- Because double crochets are worked in a round, they will naturally lean one way. It’s necessary to straighten up the stitches so the holder will have the right shape.
- Body of the holder is made using 2 strands of yarn held together. Because you only need one ball of yarn to make it, take one end from the middle of the ball and one end from the outside of the ball and hold them together.
Using 8 mm hook and 2 strands of Main Colour held together make 6 ch.
1) 2 dc in the second ch from hook, dc in next 3 ch, 4 dc in the last chain, continue making sts on the other side of the chain in the remaining loops: dc in next 3 ch, 2 dc in last ch. (14 dc)
Move the stitch marker to the last stitch in this round and continue moving it on the last stitch of the following rounds.
2) 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next 4 sts, dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in last 2 sts (22 sts)
3) Dc in first st, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in last st. (30 dc)
4) Dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 7 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 7 sts, 2 dc in next 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts. (38 dc)
5) Dc in each st. (38 dc)
6) to 7) Repeat row 5
Pattern notes:
Now take a hook off your loop and enlarge it, or put a stitch marker on it so it doesn’t unravel. Don’t cut the yarn off. Leave it as it is, we will come back to it later in the round 12.
We will now move to the front side of the rectangle and start making the flat bit of the holder, the one where the book/tablet sits on. The rows of dc will be worked back and forth unlike the rest of the holder. On the end of each row we will sl st to the first dc that sits on the side of the row just finished, let’s call it ‘side wall’ of the rectangle. We won’t be making 1 ch to start each row, instead we will sl st to the following dc on the ‘side wall’ of stitches (the one above the dc, that we slip stitched, to finish last row). The purpose of slip stitching to the side, is so we won’t need to stitch the flat bit to the sides of the square but just continue the piece. In other words each row of dc will have sl st at the beginning and at the end of it.
Skip next 3 stitches from when you just finished and slip stitch new ball of yarn (if you only have one ball of yarn, cut the working yarn off and use it here) to 4th st, make bpdc (without starting 1 chain) in the next 11 sts, sl st to top of next available dc from the side of the rectangle and then sl st to the dc above it and turn. (11 BPdc)
9) Skip 2 slip stitches made on the end of the previous round and make 11 dc on top of 11 dc from the previous round, sl st to top of next available dc from the side of the rectangle and then sl st to the dc above it and turn. (11 dc)
10) Repeat round 9. (11 dc)
Pattern notes:
(Optional) In the next round work stitches around the front posts of double crochets. This will cause top loops of the double crochets to be on the outside which will enable you to crochet the row of double crochets on top of those stitches later on. The row of double crochets will create a ridge which will stop mobile/cell phone from sliding if you want it in more upright position. Alternatively just make double crochets in a normal way as those ridges aren’t crucial for the functionality of the holder.
11) Skip 2 slip stitches made on the end of the previous round and make 11 FPdc on top of 11 dc from the previous round, sl st to top of next available dc from the side of the rectangle and fasten off. (11 FPdc)
Pattern notes:
Put your crochet hook back in the loop where you finished round 7. We will now work in a round again, so remember about moving your stitch marker up after the end of each round.
12) Dc in each st around. (30 dc)
13) -14) Repeat round 12. (30 dc)
Pattern notes:
Make a row of htr on the top loops left after row 8. This is necessary so the phone doesn’t slide off. Start the row on the right, facing the outside. Clip of the yarn and sew both sides of the row of double crochets to the side, leaning towards the middle of the holder. Weave in the ends inside the holder.
(Optional) Make a row of dc on top of 2 loops left after row 11 in the same way as described above. This will create a second bar that will enable to wedge the phone on a different angle.
15) Dc2tog, dc in next 7 sts, dc2tog, dc in next 4 sts, dc2tog, dc in next 7 sts, dc2tog, dc in last 4 sts. (26 dc)
16) Dc in each st around. (26 dc)
17) Dc2tog, dc in next 5 sts, dc2tog, dc in next 4 sts, dc2tog, dc in next 5 sts, dc2tog, dc in last 4 sts. (22 dc)
18) Dc2tog, dc in next 3 sts, dc2tog, dc in next 2 sts,dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in next 3 sts, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in last 2 sts. (16 dc)
Pattern notes:
At this point stuff the holder with hollowfibre filling firmly and evenly. Fill it in sections, first the front section, then the rest of the bottom and lastly the top but avoid the lumps. Be careful to not over fill the holder as the stuffing will start to stretch your crochet fabric and holes between the stitches will become visible. Also the holder will be misshaped.
Keep filling the inside of the body until it’s quite firm. Press it all over, looking for hollow bits and fill them up. I’ve used about 20 gram of filling.
19) Dc2tog, dc in next st, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in next st, dc2tog, dc in next st, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in next st. (10 dc)
20) Dc2tog, dc in next st, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in next st, dc2tog. (6 dc)
Pattern notes:
Add more filling and do the final check if the shape of the crochet phone stand is right and there isn’t any hollow bits. Fasten off leaving a longer tail. Thread the yarn tail on to the blunt ended yarn needle and close the hole by gathering 6 stitches of the last round together. Then, darn in the ends invisibly inside the stitches to secure it.
Sew on the bottom of the ears together and then sew them on to the top of the head around row 18. Embroider X shape nose on the middle of the front bar (the one made with htr).
You can also embroider the eyes. Alternatively make crocheted eyes and position them as you wish.
Here are some propositions:
Top left - Eyes were placed on the row of hdc that forms front stop bar for the phone. This position is great as you can always see the eyes not matter which position the phone is.
Top right - Eyes were placed on the row of sc that forms the additional stop bar to put the phone more upright. You can see the eyes if the phone is wedged against this bar but not if it's wedged againts the front bar.
Bottom left and right - Eyes were placed on around row 13 and 14
