DISCLAIMER: The quantity above is based on what the pattern designer used with their specific tension and the size of the end product stated below and rounded up to a full ball of yarn so there is a little bit extra in case you crochet more loosely and use more yarn as a result (check the exact quantity used in 'about the project' section of this description). Each person crochets with different tension, some crochet loosely and some tightly. If you are crocheting tightly, it's likely that you will end up with a smaller item and use less yarn. Unfortunately, unused yarn sold as a part of the kit can't be returned. Not to worry though, we have some free patterns on our blog and we will be adding more, so you can use up your extra yarn. If you crochet very loosely you might end up with a bigger item and run out of yarn, therefore you might want to consider adding to the cart an extra 50g or 100g ball of each colour just in case (especially if you are on a deadline to finish the item and are based outside the UK).

With this kit, you’ll get a pattern that is for both horse and the unicorn so it’s an added bonus!

This incredible crochet pattern will help you create a perfect blanket and toy which will make a great gift for a friend or family member’s new born or a toddler.

Just like with all our yarn kits, you can create a unique crochet gift for a new born that has the beauty of a warm, cosy crochet blanket and a cute crochet toy to play with while in their cot, pushchair or during tummy time. As ever, the beautiful Dreamy Wool yarn you’ll use to crochet your blanket will provide the baby with a cover that’s wonderfully warm and soft, while the toy it turns to provides a cute-looking sensory stimulus. The pattern will let you create an animal with many detailed features including long legs, hooves, a tail and a mane, each one giving a baby lots of opportunities to explore through touch.

Unfolded, the crochet blanket is making an ideal play mat as well as a regular blanket. As with all Crochet Arcade patterns, it is super easy to follow thanks to extremely details instructions with images and videos taking you through the process from beginning to end – or, in this case, from hook to hooves! There’s also a one-page instruction sheet on how to fold the crochet blanket properly to expose the toy in full as it hangs over a cot rail.

WHY WE DON’T SHIP TO THE EU

We’re currently unable to ship to Ireland or any EU country due to the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), effective December 2024.

These rules require small businesses to complete extra paperwork and appoint an EU representative with ongoing costs. As a tiny company, we’re not ready for this step yet—but we hope to offer EU shipping in the future.

We’re sorry for the disappointment and truly appreciate your support and understanding. 

USA SHIPPING UPDATE

We’re excited to resume shipping to the USA! 🇺🇸

Here’s what US customers should know about possible charges:

• Yarn duties: up to 7.5%

• Reciprocal tariff: yarn made in Turkey, potentially adds 15%

• Handling fees: DHL charges £17 for Express, so we removed Express shipping. We now offer Standard Shipping (7–30 days) via Royal Mail, with only a £0.50 clearance fee.

Maximum possible charges:

• 15% of order value + £0.50, or

• 22.5% (7.5% + 15%) of order value + £0.50

This is much lower than expected and similar to what Canadian customers have paid, keeping our yarn affordable.

Interesting fact: We recently sent a small US order after the new fees took effect. No duty invoice was issued, and the parcel was delivered immediately, suggesting small orders may sometimes be waived.

We haven’t implemented upfront duty charges on our site yet—it’s costly for a small family business. For now, we’ll email each US customer about potential duties before shipping to avoid surprises.

COLOURS DISCLAIMER: Please note actual colours may look different on a real product than what you see on your computer monitor. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor has a different capability to display colours and that everyone sees these colours differently.
